Hello Beautiful People:

The day has finally arrived! Our book, Digital Fashion: Theory, Practice, Implications, is published and available for purchase.

My chapter, “Existence, Aesthetics, and Meaning: A Philosophical Reflection,” ponders the nature of digital fashion. What really is it? More to the point, I ask what digital fashion’s purpose could be if it exists only in a virtual context. It cannot protect you from the cold, rain, wind, or sun. In the physical world, for example, we might grab an ugly coat because it performs a function, like keeping us warm. In a virtual world, that functionality is not necessary. I conclude that the main purpose of digital fashion is to showcase our aesthetics and to create meaning.
