Hello Aesthetics People!
Over the years, I’ve taught courses on different aspects of aesthetics, including the history of aesthetics, aesthetic taste, and the philosophy and science of beauty. Many people said they wish they could have taken some of these courses. Over the last year, Bella Zhang, founder of Artful Banyan Tree, and I have developed a course that distills decades of material into two sessions.
“Aesthetic Paths to Flourishing”
Blending theory with practical applications, we give participants the substance of why aesthetics matters and steps to developing their aesthetic habits and future. In other words, we created this course to provide valuable information as well as practical guidance. We offer this all while knowing people will make new connections as we discuss these topics and share stories from our backgrounds.
Both sessions are held online.
Session 1 meets on November 3, 10am-12pm EST.
This session explores why aesthetic experience is vital to human well-being. We’ll also look at the beauty we can find in everyday life. Part of this will consist of exploring what we mean by beauty, along with activities that guide participants to experience beauty in a more embodied way.
Session 2 meets on November 17, 10am-12pm EST.
Building on the knowledge and experience of the first session, this session goes deeper in helping people cultivate aesthetic sensibilities. One way to do this is to examine our habits and take a more active role in developing our taste.
As this course has limited space, we recommend you sign up immediately.
