ARL turns 10!
Hello Friends!
This year marks a meaningful milestone: Aesthetics Research Lab turns ten!
On this 10 year anniversary, I thought it would be appropriate to say a little about how it began and what it is now.
In ARL’s first year, the website received just over 400 views. Today, more than 20,000 people visit each year—a reminder that even a small, persistent curiosity can find a community.
Over the past ten years, I’ve learned that asking questions is only part of the work; listening, experimenting, and noticing how ideas take shape in the world is just as important. That combination—curiosity plus attention—has guided the projects, collaborations, and conversations that define ARL today.
Throughout this year, I’m planning a small number of conversations and gatherings to bring these questions into shared reflection.
More details soon.
If this work resonates with you, you’re always welcome to reply and say hello, share this with someone else, or introduce me to an organization or individual who could benefit from this kind of inquiry.
Thank you for being part of this work!
If you’d like, feel free to leave a comment sharing one way aesthetic thinking has helped you in a practical way in your life.
Thank you!
Michael
